OH HELLO THERE

Why I'm here.

Just picture a big pregnant belly and three crazy kids running around.  I was wearing black leggings with mostly neutral t-shirts and I tried to do my hair and make-up each day. Just trying to survive and learn to be a better mom and wife. Which I'm still trying to do on the daily.  In this photo we took a "vacation" about 30 minutes away from our home and made a weekend of it.  It was actually wonderful and the kids still talk about it two years later.  Lots of s'mores and uncomfortable cabin beds.  Remember what doing whatever you wanted felt like pre quarantine?



Right around this time, I saw someone on my instagram posted that she got her colors done.  I thought, ohhhh okay now what is this? So, I told my husband and started researching the company. I was absolutely impressed by House of Colour due to their science based process to determine what a persons best colors were.  And seriously.  Once I knew this was an actual thing, every single thing I put on I questioned myself.  Is THIS my color? It was like a bug in my ear that just wouldn't stop.  I thought, okay how nice would it be for someone to just make all these decisions for me.  I, along with every other person, make so many decisions every day. What if I made some things a little easier for myself?  I was convinced.  I told my husband and gave him the information to get me a color analysis for Mother's Day.  And he did!!💛 But first I needed to have this baby.  And Friday the 13th of July was the best day welcoming our 4th child, Evie, to the world.  Such a special time.  I won't tell my husband I now have baby fever after looking through some pictures.

Okay, I'm done crying.  Haha.  I should inform people right now that I'm a little emotional.
So when Evie was 4 weeks old I had my colors done by Laura Frantz in Lincoln.  It was all kind of a whirlwind.  I wore a white shirt and black leggings to the appointment thinking surely one of those had to be my colors.  Oh I was so wrong.  I ended up being a Spring.  And I could see it happening.  The blue based colors were making me look cold and in my words, "dead". I was yellow based and bright! It was great and I bought all the make-up so I didn't even have to think about that.  Decision made easier right there. Ha! We had like 45 minutes to spare before we picked up the 3 kids (my husband and the baby came with) so we stopped at the Loft and I bought 3 shirts using my color wallet.  I was already having so much fun.  I was pretty much changed from that point on as far as knowing what complimented me and gave me more confidence.  I started back at the gym a few days prior and I started buying some gym clothes in my colors too.  It pretty much just gave me some motivation to love myself.  And I felt a little selfish asking for this gift because I knew it was completely for me.  But looking back I am just SO happy I did it.  It started me on a whole journey of increased confidence and embracing my authenticity.
